Ekaterina Melkamini's Biography
Ekaterina Melkamini was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1970. In 1988 she graduated from famous Uspensky Music School who gave the world many talented musicians and top-prize winners. After graduation she entered Tashkent State Conservatory where she received Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy and Chamber Music. In 1990, still a student, she was invited to the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan where she composed, recorded and performed incidental music for such famous productions as Electra by Sophocles, Equus by Peter Shaffer, Le Médecin malgré lui (The Doctor in spite of himself) by Molier and many others. Upon the graduation she collaborated with leading musicians and directors creating series of projects involving classical music and revolutionary light design. Along with these concerts, she maintained a busy piano studio in one of the music schools in Tashkent. In 1995- 1996 she moved to Germany and in 1998, when her husband, Eugen Brim, was invited to work as an actor for Cirque du Soleil they moved to USA. Here Ekaterina continued to work as a piano teacher and a lecturer for young audiences trying to enlarge their vision of art beyond the art of music. Many of her students won numerous awards and top places in piano competitions in USA and abroad, she does not see these results as her primarily goal. Her main goal is to share her passion for art with young people and drop a spark in their souls that will help them to grow up being culturally and spiritually rich people. She has two daughters, 14 and 10 years old for whom she originally started to develop numerous projects for kids inviloving music and art, among which is her latest project Bach’s Galaxy , where young pianists will be performing music of J.S.Bach , accompanied by the theatrical light.
